Long PDFs are awkward to share, especially when only certain pages are relevant to the recipient. Our split tool lets you click individual pages directly in a visual thumbnail grid, extract exactly what you need, and download a ZIP archive containing those pages — each as its own PDF file.

Situations where splitting a PDF is the right move

Lawyers and conveyancers in Malaysia routinely receive hundred-page sale and purchase agreements but need to distribute only specific schedules to individual parties. A lecturer may download a full textbook PDF and split it to share only that week's chapter with students. Freelancers and contractors frequently receive master project briefs and extract only the scope-of-work pages to attach to their own proposals. Splitting also helps when LHDN audit correspondence arrives as a single scanned bundle — you extract each notice separately before filing it in the correct folder.

Common Use Cases

Distributing Contract Schedules

Lawyers and conveyancers sharing a 120-page SPA extract only the relevant schedules for each party without exposing the full agreement to every recipient.

Academic Chapter Distribution

Lecturers who download full-textbook PDFs split out the current chapter to share with students on Moodle or Google Classroom, keeping file sizes manageable and bandwidth low.

LHDN Audit Document Filing

When a tax audit bundle arrives as a single 80-page scanned PDF, splitting it into individual notices allows each document to be filed correctly in digital accounting folders.

Freelancer Scope Extraction

Contractors extract only their specific scope-of-work pages from a master project brief to attach to their own proposal, keeping the full client brief confidential.

How to use Split PDF — step by step

1

Upload the PDF

Drop your PDF into the upload zone. A thumbnail grid of all pages loads so you can see what you are working with.

2

Click pages to select

Tap or click each page thumbnail you want to extract. Selected pages show a blue checkmark. You can select any combination — they do not need to be consecutive.

3

Extract and download

Click Process File. A ZIP archive downloads containing one independent PDF per selected page.

Tips for best results

Click the first page, then hold Shift and click the last page to select a continuous range quickly.

The thumbnail grid loads up to 50 pages. For very long PDFs, identify your target page numbers in a PDF reader first, then select them in the grid.

Each extracted page is a full, standalone PDF — you can compress or add watermarks to individual pages after splitting.

If you only need a single page, you still receive a ZIP with one PDF inside. Just extract it from the archive.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I extract a range of pages rather than individual ones?

Yes. Select any combination of pages — clicking pages 3, 4, 5, and 6 will extract a four-page PDF. Each selected page becomes its own file in the ZIP.

Do extracted pages keep their original formatting?

Completely. Font embedding, image quality, and vector graphics are preserved exactly. No recompression happens during splitting.

What happens to the pages I did not select?

They are discarded from the output. The source file is never modified — it is only read, not altered.

Can I split a scanned PDF?

Yes, though the thumbnails may appear slower to load for high-resolution scans. Each page in the output will still be a scanned image page, not searchable text.

Why does the ZIP contain separate PDFs instead of one multi-page PDF?

Each selected page is its own standalone file so you can attach, share, or process them independently. If you want the selected pages combined into one file, merge the resulting PDFs using the Merge PDF tool.
