Image dimensions directly affect file size, load time, and compatibility with upload platforms. Our resize tool scales your image to exact pixel dimensions, shrinks it to a percentage of its original size, or fits it within a maximum dimension — all without introducing compression artefacts beyond what the JPEG or PNG format normally produces.
When image dimensions need to match a specific requirement
Shopee and Lazada seller panels require product images to be at least 500×500 pixels with a maximum of 2000×2000 pixels. A photo straight from an iPhone at 4032×3024 pixels is too large for the uploader and must be resized. MyGov and MAMPU portal job applications cap profile photo uploads at specific pixel dimensions — uploading a full-resolution phone photo causes an error. Podcast artwork must be exactly 1400×1400 pixels for Spotify and Apple Podcasts. Company HR portals for onboarding documents often specify passport photo image dimensions — resize prepares the exact file the system expects.
How to use Resize Image — step by step
Upload your image
Drop a JPG, PNG, or WebP image. All standard device and camera resolutions are supported.
Enter target dimensions
Set width and height in pixels using the input fields. The aspect ratio is maintained unless you enter both dimensions independently.
Download the resized image
Your image downloads at exactly the dimensions you specified, in the same format as the input.
Tips for best results
Always resize before compressing — compressing first then resizing introduces double quality loss.
For Shopee/Lazada square thumbnails, enter the same value in both width and height (e.g., 1000×1000).
If the platform gives you a maximum file size rather than pixel dimensions, use Compress Image after resizing.
PNG resizing maintains transparency — JPG does not support transparent backgrounds and fills them with white.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will resizing to a smaller size make my image blurry?
Scaling down (making smaller) produces crisp results because detail is merged rather than invented. Scaling up (enlarging beyond the original size) introduces softness since pixels must be interpolated. Avoid enlarging beyond 150% of the original resolution.
Does the tool maintain aspect ratio automatically?
When you enter only one dimension and leave the other at 0 (or blank), the tool calculates the other dimension to keep the aspect ratio intact. If you enter both, the image is stretched to match — useful for platforms requiring strict dimensions.
Why is the resized PNG larger in file size than the original JPG?
PNG uses lossless compression which results in larger files than JPEG for photographic images. If file size is the concern, convert the output to JPG using our Convert Image tool.
Can I resize a GIF without breaking the animation?
This tool processes static frames only — animated GIF resizing is not supported. The first frame will be extracted and resized as a static image.
What is the maximum input image size?
Up to 10 MB per image. Very large images (20+ megapixel DSLR shots) should be compressed slightly before uploading if they are close to this limit.
