WebP to JPG

Convert modern WebP images to universal JPG format.

Encrypted upload · Auto-deleted after 1 hour · PDPA compliant

WebP is an excellent web format but has limited support in older design tools, print workflows, and some email clients. Converting WebP to JPG produces a universally compatible image that opens in every application from Microsoft Word to Adobe Illustrator without needing any plugin or browser.

When WebP compatibility causes problems

Freelancers who download images from modern websites to use in Word documents or PowerPoint presentations often receive them in WebP format, which Word cannot open directly. Print shops and designers using older versions of Photoshop (pre-2021) cannot open WebP files natively. UI/UX designers who download Figma or Sketch exports as WebP for delivery to developers sometimes need to convert them for clients using older software. WhatsApp on older Android versions does not preview WebP files correctly — converting to JPG ensures the image displays in the chat preview on all devices.

How to use WebP to JPG — step by step

1

Upload the WebP file

Drop the .webp image. Both static and animated WebP are accepted (animated files are converted as a still first frame).

2

Convert

Click Process File. The WebP is decoded and re-encoded as a high-quality JPEG.

3

Download the JPG

The output JPG opens in every image viewer, email client, and design application without compatibility issues.

Tips for best results

If the WebP was downloaded from a website, its quality was already reduced for web delivery — the JPG output will reflect that, not the original source quality.

For importing into Microsoft Office applications, JPG is the most reliable format. Always convert WebP before inserting into Word or PowerPoint.

If the WebP has a transparent background, conversion fills it with white. Use PNG-to-JPG only when you need compatibility, not transparency.

File sizes of JPGs converted from WebP may be larger than the original WebP — this is normal since WebP is highly optimised and JPEG is less efficient at equivalent visual quality.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why can't Microsoft Word open WebP images directly?

WebP was developed by Google and is a relatively recent web standard. Microsoft Word added WebP support only in newer Office versions (365, 2019+). Older versions (2016, 2013, and earlier) do not recognise the format. Converting to JPG eliminates this version dependency.

Does converting WebP to JPG reduce quality?

Very slightly, because WebP uses more advanced compression than JPEG. The visual difference at quality 85+ JPG is indistinguishable in most cases, especially for photographs.

Can I convert a WebP animation to a JPG?

Only the first frame is extracted and converted. Animated WebP-to-GIF or animated-to-video conversion is not supported.

Will the converted JPG be the same dimensions?

Yes. Pixel dimensions are preserved exactly during format conversion. Only the encoding format and file size change.

Why is the JPG file larger than the WebP?

WebP achieves 25–35% smaller file sizes than JPG at equivalent quality, by design. Converting to JPG naturally increases the file size — this is expected behaviour.
